GOLDSMITHS TALK. Dec. 2012.
This is an abridged version of an address given at Goldsmiths College, London in December 2012. It took the form of an illustrated 'confession' centred upon a crisis of belief from many years ago.
In essence it's prime message is: 'Make it real'. The natural world takes no prisoners. The lack of a self-reflective sensibility causes events in nature to proceed with a dispassionate, pragmatic inevitability beyond any subjective preferences, resulting in the physical characteristics of the materials and their interactions in a context of various forces, being solely responsible for the outcomes.
Note: The section on this site dedicated to works in the natural environment, in particular 'The University of the Waves' is a necessary complement to this talk.
